Between
May of 1804 and September of 1806, Co-commanders Meriweather Lewis
and William Clark traveled across the then newly aquired Louisiana
Purchase (what is now the western United States) searching for a
water route to the Pacific Ocean. They found, instead, a vast land
of incredible wealth in natural resources. Their contributions to
the growth and success of a very young nation cannot be
overestimated.![]() The Lewis and Clark Expedition traveled the entire length of Montana, following the Missouri River for most of its distance. And, their travels took them directly in front of the End Of The Line Sportsman's Retreat cottages. Sit in an easy chair on the deck and envision Sacajewea as she led the Expedition up the same Missouri River you are now viewing, with the scenes and views virtually unchanged since she passed by. Come join us for the coming bicentennial celebrations. It will be an interesting and fun filled experience into Montana's, and our country's, past. We are located within an easy drive of the Great Falls of the Missouri, the Gates of the Mountains and the Three Forks of the Missouri. ![]() |
